Compare Skyforge, Dark Nexus, and Hellforge Hexbreaker 7pc metal RPG sets on finish, color, and price so you can pick the right dark metal dice set for your character.
Quick answer
For most players, the Skyforge Hexbreaker is the safest pick if you want bright, readable blue-and-white dice at the lowest catalog price. Choose Dark Nexus if you want the most popular mold in an oil-slick scorched rainbow finish, and Hellforge if you prefer dark gunmetal with red borders for a heavier, more aggressive look.
What actually separates these three Hexbreaker sets
All three use the same 7-piece Hexbreaker mold, so the real differences are finish, color contrast, and catalog price. Skyforge uses blue and white, Dark Nexus uses an oil-slick scorched rainbow, and Hellforge pairs dark gunmetal faces with red borders and numbers. Those choices change how easy the dice are to read across a table and how well they match a character concept.
Price vs. popularity: where the trade-off bites
Dark Nexus is described as the most popular mold and style combination, but it carries the highest catalog price of the three at USD 44.96. Skyforge is the lowest at USD 35.97, while Hellforge sits in the middle at USD 40.77. If budget is the deciding factor, Skyforge wins; if you want the finish the store calls its most popular, Dark Nexus justifies the extra cost.
Readability and table presence
Skyforge's blue and white palette typically offers the highest contrast for quick number reading, which matters during fast combat rounds. Hellforge's dark gunmetal with red borders keeps numbers visible while giving a moodier look, and Dark Nexus's scorched rainbow can shift under light, which is striking but may be less legible at a glance. None of these sets includes supplied weight or edge-sharpness specs, so judge readability from the color descriptions rather than assumed performance.
Key trade-offs to weigh
- Price: Skyforge is the lowest at USD 35.97, Hellforge is USD 40.77, and Dark Nexus is USD 44.96. Choose Skyforge if cost is your main concern.
- Finish and color: Skyforge is blue and white, Dark Nexus is oil-slick scorched rainbow, and Hellforge is dark gunmetal with red borders. Pick the one that matches your character or party theme.
- Readability: Higher-contrast color schemes like Skyforge's blue and white are generally easier to read at a distance. Dark Nexus may appeal more for its shifting look than for quick number spotting. If you often play in dim light or across a large table, favor the lighter, higher-contrast option.
